1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC
This 1985 Mercedes-Benz 500SEC was reportedly sold new at Mark Motors, Inc. of Arlington Heights, Illinois and was acquired by the second owner from the same dealership in 1988. It has reportedly been kept as part of the current owner’s private collection since 2012 and now shows 98k miles. Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic over a red leather interior, the car is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with a Becker cassette stereo, automatic climate control, heated seats, and more. A January 2020 service reportedly included replacement of the door lock servo and vacuum pump, installation of a new battery, and a brake fluid flush. This C126 is now offered on dealer consignment with a tool kit, factory manuals, a factory maintenance book, data plates, service records since 1988, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
Smoke Silver Metallic (702) paint is joined by gray lower body cladding and two-tone red and orange pinstripes. The selling dealer notes rock chips on the hood, and close-up photos of the lenses and trim are provided in the gallery below.
The 14″ Bundt wheels are wrapped in Michelin MXV4 rubber, while the matching spare housed in the trunk wears a Dunlop SP D6 tire. The self-leveling rear suspension has been retained, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs with ABS.
The interior is trimmed in Medium Red leather (277) with burl wood trim on the dash, center console, and door panels. Amenities include a Becker Grand Prix electronic cassette stereo, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and courtesy lamps on the doors. A crack is noted on the dash and scratches are present on the inside of the trunk lid, per the seller.
The fuel-injected 5.0L M117 V8 sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. A new battery was installed earlier this year, and an oil and filter change was last carried out around 200 miles ago in 2014. Further maintenance over the years is outlined on receipts provided in the gallery.
