1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL
This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL was sold new in Virginia and later spent time in Florida, where it was acquired by the current owner in 2002. Now showing 59k miles, the car is finished in white over blue leather and powered by a 5.5-liter M117 V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ alloy wheels, a color-matched hardtop, a blue soft top, automatic climate control, and fog lights. Service in the past year included fluid changes and a steering box reseal. This R107 is offered on dealer consignment with maintenance records, a stamped service booklet, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title.
The body is finished in white with blue pinstripes as well as chrome-accented bumpers and trim. Equipment includes fog lights, a power antenna, heated mirrors, a color-matched removable hardtop, and a blue soft top with a plastic rear window. The radio antenna was replaced in fall 2020. Close-up photos of the exterior can be seen in the image gallery below.
Factory 15″ Gullideckel wheels are wrapped in Michelin Premier A/S tires. All R107s were equipped with four-wheel disc brakes and independent rear suspension. The tie rods were replaced under current ownership, while the steering box was resealed and a coupling replaced in November 2020.
The cabin features seats upholstered in blue leather with matching door panels and carpets. The burl wood veneer accenting the dashboard and center console is said to have been refinished, and amenities include cruise control, automatic climate control, an ambient temperature display, and a carpeted parcel shelf behind the front seats. A crack in the center console wood trim is visible, and the Becker Grand Prix cassette stereo is inoperative.
The airbag steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset clock, and auxiliary gauges. The six-digit odometer indicates 59k miles, approximately 10k of which have been added under current ownership.
The 5.5-liter M117 V8 was factory-rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes fluid changes were performed within the past year.
